Deck Access

 

Deck access falls into three categories

• Access from the house to the deck
• Access to different areas within the deck
• Access from the deck to the rest of the garden

 

When designing access from the house the optimum solution is to step out level onto the deck. In most cases this is possible however where there is insufficient depth then it may be necessary to form a small platform at door level before stepping up onto the main deck

Access to different areas within a deck is best achieved by constructing single steps changes either up or down such changes are normally delineated by a change in direction of the deck boards.

Access to the rest of the garden can be achieved by a formal staircase or where ground levels permit by stepping straight from the deck into the garden.
